The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has announced the finalists for the first ever NIHR Impact Prizes, which celebrate researchers and teams who have had a major impact on the health and wealth of the nation, as well as globally.
Dr Charlotte Hall, Principal Research Fellow at the NIHR MindTech HealthTech Research, has been named a finalist in the Early Career Research category. Dr Hall has been recognised for her research on QbTest, a tool for the assessment of ADHD in children and young people.
Dr Hall was the trial manager of the AQUA-Trial, funded by NIHR ARC East Midlands, which demonstrated that the QbTest could significantly reduce the time to diagnosis without compromising accuracy. Dr Hall then led an evaluation of the national NHS rollout of QbTest, which further evidenced the clinical efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the technology.
The success of the QbTest, developed by Qbtech, is a testament to the collaborative efforts between industry and academia. Dr Hall's work has not only improved clinical outcomes but also supported the global expansion of this innovative company.

The winners will be announced at an in-person award ceremony on 20 March 2025, hosted by Professor Lucy Chappell, the Department of Health and Social Care’s Chief Scientific Advisor and CEO of the NIHR.
The rapid national rollout of QbTest, developed by innovator Qbtech, is based on a collaboration between the company, Health Innovation East Midlands (HIEM), the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) East Midlands, and the NIHR MindTech HealthTech Research Centre.
