Researchers from MindTech and the University of Nottingham, Dr Blandine French and Professor Chris Hollis, have made key contributions to the newly published national Report of the Independent ADHD Taskforce – Part 2, commissioned by NHS England.
The report sets out comprehensive recommendations for addressing ongoing difficulties within ADHD services across health, education, employment and justice sectors, emphasising early intervention, workforce training, and digitisation of care pathways.
Dr French and Professor Hollis contributed evidence and implementation insights drawn from Nottingham’s leading work in digital mental health innovation and ADHD care. Their previous NIHR-funded MindTech AQUA trial evaluated the use of QbTest, an objective, computerised attention assessment tool, showing that it can improve the speed and efficiency of ADHD assessment services, read more about the AQUA trial on PubMed. Findings from this and subsequent studies have directly informed NICE guidance on digital technologies for ADHD assessment and national recommendations on quality assurance and stepped-care models highlighted in the Taskforce report.
Dr French said “This report represents an important step toward a more equitable, evidence-based and digitally-enabled ADHD service model. It’s encouraging to see research from Nottingham shaping national policy and practice.”
NIHR HealthTech Research Centre Mental Health (MindTech) continues to lead UK research into digital innovations that support ADHD assessment and treatment, working closely with the NHS and people with lived experience.
