SlowMo is a new therapy designed to help people with paranoia feel better and improve their quality of life. It uses a fun and visual approach, showing worries as spinning bubbles. This encourages people to slow down their thinking, focus on facts, and find ways to feel safer.

With just 8 sessions, SlowMo has proven to be effective in reducing paranoia and improving wellbeing. In a large study with 362 participants, it also helped boost confidence, ease worries, and improve quality of life—and these improvements lasted for six months. Importantly, SlowMo was designed to be easy and inclusive, working well for people from all walks of life, including older adults and people from Black communities who often face challenges with technology.

Now, SlowMo is being updated and improved to work even better in everyday settings.

The goals include:

  • Making SlowMo even easier to use and adopt in real-world settings.
  • Exploring wearable tech (like activity trackers) to enhance results.
  • Developing online training to help more therapists use SlowMo.
  • Collecting feedback to make sure it works for a wide range of people.
  • Checking its cost-effectiveness and benefits.
  • Creating a plan to spread SlowMo more widely.

SlowMo’s mission is clear: to create a therapy that is simple, effective, and accessible to everyone. It’s on its way to becoming a powerful tool for people with paranoia and their clinicians.
